How to Choose a DLsite Work Before You Click
The six-point pre-purchase checklist we use ourselves — format, tags, circle, language, samples, and score — plus how affiliate links are disclosed.
Doujin works are cheap individually, but disappointment adds up. This is the checklist behind every pick on this site — six things to confirm before you click through to DLsite, in the order that saves the most regret.
1. Format
Format decides how much Japanese you need before taste even enters into it. A CG set you can enjoy visually; a text-heavy game you probably can’t. If you’re new to this decision, read finding works as a non-Japanese reader first.
2. Tags
Tags tell you what’s in the work. Read all of them, not just the first two — the tag you skip is always the one you wish you’d seen. Our cards show the main categories; the official DLsite page lists every tag.
3. Circle
The circle is the creator group behind the work. If you liked one work from a circle, their back catalog is the highest-probability place to find your next favorite. Circle names are on every card and detail page.
4. Language
Check what the work actually ships in — not what a badge hints at. Our listings state the language plainly, and where DLsite lists a community translation badge we say what that does and doesn’t promise.
5. Samples on DLsite
Before buying, open the official DLsite page and look at the sample images or trial download. It’s the only way to judge text density, art consistency, and whether the preview matches your expectations. Every button on our site lands on the official product page — via a labeled affiliate link where noted — so this check is always one click away.
6. The English-Friendly Score
Our 0–5 rating wraps the language-and-format question into one number — here’s exactly how it’s scored. Use it as a filter, then confirm with the samples.
A note on our links
Some of the buttons on this site are affiliate links, always labeled beneath the button. Purchases still happen entirely on DLsite at DLsite’s price — the label exists so you never have to wonder. Details in the affiliate disclosure.
